What to Expect at Calvary Baptist Church

Where do I park?

Ample and convenient parking is available for everyone. Our  parking spaces and paved parking lot remove the tension from your arrival and departure from our church. We also have parking spaces designated for the handicapped.  And since the Main Auditorium and nurseries are located on ground level, the services are easily accessible to those with physical disabilities or handicaps.

What do I do when I get there?

Relax, and invite the Lord to speak to your heart! We’re here to serve you. If you’ve arrived in time for Sunday School at 9:30 a.m., our friendly greeters will meet you at the door and help direct you to the appropriate class. There is also a Welcome Center in the lobby to assist people with their needs.  There are Sunday School classes available for all ages, as well as clean, professional nurseries for the infants and toddlers. Sunday School is a teaching ministry of our church.

The Sunday Morning services begin at 10:30 a.m. in the Main Auditorium for adults and teens. There is a children’s service during this time that is prepared especially for their needs, and their level of understanding. Of course, the nurseries are also available for the youngest ones.

Our Sunday Evening service begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Main Auditorium, and it is a highlight for many who attend our church. Always encouraging and challenging, it is a weekly appointment you’ll not want to miss! Nurseries are available for the duration of the evening.

The Wednesday Evening Bible Study starts at 7:00 p.m. and is also held in the Main Auditorium. This is a refreshing time of Bible study and prayer.

What’s the dress code?

The truth of the matter is, there is no strict dress code for our public services! We want you to be comfortable and ready to concentrate on the message of God’s Word. Many in attendance will be wearing their “Sunday best” – the men in dress shirts and dress slacks, typically with a tie, and the women in appropriate dresses.

What are the services like?

Although there are many things that are wrong in this world, we believe that our God is alive and well! He is a living Saviour, and we worship Him with an attitude of victory and gratitude! Our adult choir will sing in the Sunday Morning service and the congregation will join in singing several of the great traditional songs and hymns found in the old-fashioned song book. It’s not uncommon for someone to lift an extra word of praise to God during the song service. Our Lord is worthy! Special music is always prepared by a variety of church members to enhance the services.

Prayer is a major part of the services at CBC. We believe that God does everything in answer to prayer. We’ll open the meeting in prayer, and many times will offer prayer for special requests of our church family during the service. If you have a specific prayer request, we’d love to share your burden.

God’s Word is the answer to every problem we face. We believe that the Bible preaching is the most important part of every service. God’s Word has the power to comfort, correct, instruct, and fix any situation. Our pastor, John Waterhouse , has committed his life to practicing and promoting the old-time religion. We make no apology for preaching the truth in love.

At the end of the preaching, Pastor Waterhouse will ask everyone to stand and he will give an invitation. This is a time for many to respond and make a life-changing decision by walking down the aisle and praying at the altar. A decision may be made to trust Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour or to become a better Christian. Whatever your decision may be, the altar is open for you to join scores of others who are making decisions for Christ.
